Second Wave of Layoffs

Well, another month, another set of layoffs. The shop is getting kinda empty since the machines are being moved out, and now we're losing more people. This is getting harder and harder as time goes on. April will be the worst one, I think, until it's my turn in June.

There was a group farewell at El Torito tonight. I had only intended on staying half an hour or so, but ended up staying until about 8:00 (I got there before 5:30). Had a pretty good time, and hadn't realized how late it was getting. Time flies when you're on your third Diet Pepsi!

Knitting Post

Thought I'd post a couple pictures of items I've knit (knitted?).

One is the first pair of socks I made. The seam on the first sock is going in the wrong direction (from the top of the foot to the ball of the foot, instead of across the tips of the toes). It looks a little funny, but they are nice and warm for wearing around the house. They also do a great job of picking up cat and dog fur off the floor....

The other photo is of a shawl, made with the beautiful yarn S gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago. The pattern was very easy, but the shawl turned out really well ... at least, *I* think so!

Car Hunt Continues and Good Dinner

Didn't have much luck today. The car I really liked, the Dodge Nitro, had absolutely NO leg room for the driver. I mean, my legs are short, and I had to have the seat all the way forward. Well, with the seat forward, it doesn't lower enough to prevent my knees from hitting the dashboard. Had the same problem with the Jeep Compass. Also looked at the Toyota Rav4 and Highlander. Will have to come up with another list; and will probably end up with a car instead of the small SUV.

Met the family out at C and P's, and went to Giuseppe's for dinner. Had a nice visit (D is out visiting Dad and J, so we got to see him). Everyone seems to like The Kids' place. They are getting it fixed up nicely.

Had a migraine today, which put an end to the car hunt; fortunately it was gone before the end of dinner. Think I'm gonna head on to sleep now (it's 9:30). G'night.

Survivor Rocks!

Probably one of the best episodes of Survivor in a long time! The "remixing" of the tribes was a shock to them all, and I can't believe Lisi was so upset at NOT being kicked off! I feel bad for Anthony, he got a bad deal. They really should have kicked off Rocky; he's a big-mouthed bully.

On the downside, S's Yau Man and my Boo are now both on Moto. Gonna make our competition not quite as competitive, at least until they merge. But I'm glad Yau Man is getting a better chance at staying around for a while! Next week oughtta be interesting ...

Watching American Idol now, even though I already know who is leaving tonight. F let it slip before he realized I'd be watching (he thought it was on at the same time as Survivor).

Day Two

Another day, another half-dollar. Work was slow (of course, and it's only going to get worse as we get closer to the end). Met the kids for dinner, and am now watching the end of American Idol. Tomorrow night is Survivor (because of March Madness basketball on Thursday) so I'll miss Bones. Fortunately I figured out how to download the media player I need to watch Bones online. I may get this computer thing figured out after all!

First Post

Well, I have no idea what I am doing here. Don't usually have much to write about, but decided everyone else is blogging, so maybe I should, too. I mean, really, I don't want to be left out! I guess I can eventually add some pictures, and notes about my upcoming job search. So, this is the beginning, and we'll see how it goes.
