Ready To Go!

Or at least getting that way ... just have to finish my packing. I'm so excited!

So Far, So Good

Well, my team is three for three! Won the reward challenge (fishing tackle and a boat) and then "kidnapped" Jaime (#7) from the Zhan Hu tribe. She was given a clue for the whereabouts of the Immunity Idol to give to one of the Fei Long tribe. This was given to Leslie (#5) as the "weakest member". Leslie then turned around and told Todd (#7) about the clue!

We then won Immunity, too. Yay for Fei Long! Voted off: Ashley (#4)
The score is now
Susan: $1.50 Me: $0

Survivor Night

Well, the show has started and I still haven't decided whether or not to switch from Jean-Robert to Todd, so I'm stuck with JR out of default ...

Job Interview

Well, it didn't go too badly, although I'm sure it could have been better. I really don't expect anything to come from this one. First off, they left me sitting in the lobby for 25 minutes past my appointment time (especially annoying since I was way early for the meeting). Then, it wasn't a one-on-one meeting, but a "committee" of four interviewing me. This, of course, made me more nervous. I think I answered all their questions ok, but you can never tell. They all took notes ... anyway, they said they'd let me know either directly or through the agency. Oh well, better luck next time!

M.O.G. Dress

Did some running around with P today, and we stopped in at David's Bridal. She wanted to try on a dressy top for the cruise. While she was in the dressing room, I looked around at Mother of the Groom dresses, and I think I found the one I want! It fit very nicely; won't even have to be hemmed or anything. The main part of the dress comes to about mid-calf and has a thin overlay to the ankle, and has a matching "shirt" with long sleeves to cover the psoriasis on my arms without being too heavy and warm. I'm excited about it ... and it was so easy to find!

One Week From Today

and we'll be on our cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean Vision of the Seas! We should have finished dinner by now, and may be strolling around the deck, or browsing in the shops, or enjoying a show. Can't wait! I have to decide what I'm bringing with me and make sure we have all the necessities (small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, etc.) I'm even thinking of going for a pedicure on Friday so my toes are pretty. I'm more excited about this cruise than the one we took last year, because now I know how much fun it will be...

Unhappy Kitty

Couldn't find Little Thing this morning, but that's not unusual. She quite often hides in the back room and appears when she feels like it. So, I'm in the kitchen, making coffee, and I hear this pitiful little "mew" coming from the front porch. Apparently, SOMEbody snuck out when F left for work this morning. Well, I let her in, of course, and she had the dirtiest little face (must have been under the 'Chero). Buster had to investigate her very thoroughly, of course. Hopefully, Thing Kitty will be content to stay in after her adventure!

Update: apparently the cat was out all night. F had the front door open for a while before going to bed. Guess he forgot that Little Thing can get out underneath the screen! Poor kitty.

Fei Long (Flying Dragon)

<----- Fei Long Survivor China started tonight, and got off to a mighty fine start if I do say so. "My" tribe, Fei Long, won the first challenge which gave them immunity and fire. I haven't decided for sure if I want to stick with my first choice (Jean-Robert - #4) or switch to someone else on the team. S has chosen Sherea (#6, below), although I don't know if she'll stick with her choice, either. S would actually like to have one of the guys on my tribe, but I'm not trading!

Zhan Hu ----------------------------------------------->
First one voted off the Zhan Hu (Fighting Tiger) tribe is "Chicken" (Steve Morris - #8).

So - the fund is now at: S = $0.50 Me= $0

Second Interview Requested!

Apparently my phone interview yesterday went well ... they want to meet with me next Tuesday afternoon! Sounds like a good opportunity; I'd be an accounting clerk, so there is room for advancement and the pay is fantastic!

Arrrr!

Here the day is almost over, and I forgot all about it being Talk Like a Pirate Day! Shiver me timbers, ya scurvy dog!

And One More is Three

Had my third employment agency appointment this morning. This one went well, too. She has a couple of possibilities that she is going to contact regarding my resume. Guess we'll just see how it goes for now.

Gonna meet C for brunch in a bit. He's working late today (which I am sure he is just overjoyed about - NOT!) Better than yesterday; he went in at regular time, and when he was already into overtime was told he'd be the late. He really hates that ... and I can't blame him. Especially since he hasn't been feeling well this week.

That's Two ...

Had the interview at the second employment agency this afternoon. I think it went well, although I was more comfortable at the one this morning. Had to take some tests; did ok on Excel, Payroll, and AR, and totally kicked butt on the AP one. I just have a feeling I'll get more referrals from the agency I went to this morning. Well, just keep my fingers crossed for something good, I guess... and see how my appointment goes in the morning!

Wow - just got a call from an agency I spoke with a while back; I have a phone interview with a potential employer set up for 2:30 tomorrow afternoon! I think this is the one where the company is in Irwindale, and I'll need to join the Teamsters Union ... hope they don't expect me to drive a big truck! :-)

One Down ...

Well, just had the interview at the first employment agency today. He seemed quite impressed with me :-). What seems to be a really good point in my favor, of course, is the amount of time I was employed at Boyd Corp. He was also pleased with the variety of my work experience there. He is going to check my references, and then will be calling around. He said it will probably be a couple of days before I hear anything, of course. And, with the cruise coming up, I don't really expect much before the 2nd week of October. Now I've got a bit of time before my next meeting, so I'm back at home.

Pop-u-lar ... I'm Gonna Be Pop-u-u-lar!!

Wow - I'm popular today! Got a call this morning from an employment agency, have a meeting tomorrow morning at 8:30. Yay! A little while later, I got a call from another agency and have a meeting set up for 2:00 tomorrow. Yay again! Decided to go to Wal-Mart; received a call and had a phone interview right there at the store! Unfortunately, I'm not really qualified for what they need right now, but she asked if she could keep my resume on file for future possibilities. Then, I got another call from another agency, and have a meeting on Wednesday at 9:00!

So, I'm here at home, emailing with S. Complained that I'm feeling unloved because nobody has called regarding my resume all afternoon. While I was sending that email, I received an email from someone at another agency, wanting me to call! I'm on a roll! Now - to find the perfect job .....

Another Week Goes By

How did that happen so quickly? Wow ...

Let's see. What did the past week include. Just a lot of the same old-same old! I applied for a few jobs, didn't go on any interviews, did some shopping. Bought a new microwave and microwave cart at Target. F didn't like the micro, said it was too small (it was .7 cubic foot). I had gone for inexpensive. Went last night and returned it; ended up getting a 1.4 cubic foot microwave at Wal-Mart instead. Gonna try it out this morning by reheating my coffee. I know, I know - I'm a wild woman.

Spent Friday afternoon with Sh and Duh. Just went over to drop off the carpet cleaner, but ended up staying to talk all afternoon. It was nice; the babysitting kids napped for quite a bit of the time and were well behaved and quiet when they were awake. There's a new baby (9 weeks old!) so I got to have a nice little cuddle ....

Yesterday, S and I went to a craftie fair in Long Beach. Had a nice time, even though most of the crafts haven't changed in the last few years. Ended up buying some soup mixes. I know, there's that wild woman again!

Anyway, those are the highlights of my week. Sheesh, I need to get a life! :-)

The Past Weekend

My older brother is visiting this week from Oregon. It's been years since I've seen him. The whole family went to dinner at Dad & J's on Saturday (Dad made spaghetti and meatballs, yum!!) and we had a really nice visit. T is looking really good (for a man his age - hahahahahahaha) and so much like Dad. Sounds like him, too.

Had breakfast with Duh on Sunday, and a trip to Borders. Bought 4 books. I got the Beck Weathers book "Left For Dead" about the disastrous Mt Everest expedition in 1996. Just finished rereading "Into Thin Air" (Jon Krakauer's book) on Saturday, so I decided to pick up this one. Almost bought the one by Anatoli Boukreev, too, but if I remember correctly I didn't really enjoy that one. I find it such a fascinating subject, though, I may end up going back for the book. Or maybe I'll just check it out of the library again. Don't know that I'm excited about the mountain itself so much, but that particular expedition interests me. And that people continue to climb it, even knowing how dangerous it can be!

Then, yesterday, P and I drove out and took T to lunch so they could get to know each other a little bit better. It was another nice visit, lots of talking and laughing. I think they got along ok; seemed like it, anyway! Stayed talking later than we had intended, so we found a little bit of traffic on the way home, although not nearly as much as I had expected at that time. Met C at The Whole Enchilada for some happy hour tacos in the bar and then home. It was a long day, with a lot of driving for me. I was pretty tired when I got home. Tried to wait up for F but ended up going to bed about 10:00. He got home right after that, so I did actually get to talk to him a little. He brought a nice "styro" for Buster. Buster, of course, was ecstatic.

Cat Attack!

So. lying in bed last night, ready to go to sleep. Little Thing was on the windowsill (she has to check out the yard before sleeping, you know!). I was just about to tell her not to jump on F's head, when OOF, it was too late. She leaped; she landed. Had I been choking on something, it would have been a perfect Heimlich Maneuver. Needless to say, I wasn't really thrilled with having the wind knocked out of me .... Good thing she's a small cat. And, of course, she didn't land on F's head ...

Pop Quiz on HSS2

Had a pop quiz on the Sock Swap ... fortunately, it was more of a questionnaire than a test! My answers are posted on the Morgana Lovegoods blog.
