Sock In Progress

Just figured out how to include a picture inside the post, instead of in the column on the side ... yeah, I know. It's so easy, a Caveman can do it! No offense intended, of course! Anyway, here is a picture of the sock I am currently working on. It is the first one I've tried on size 2 needles, first for this brand of needles, first for this brand of yarn and first for a patterned sock. Whew! Talk about biting off more than I can chew! Anyway, here's a picture of how far I've progressed ... actually, I've gotten a little further sine this picture was taken. I'm now working on the toe decreases. The picture is kinda small, but if you click on it, it'll get much larger so you can see the detail. I'd probably prefer it if you didn't do that!

Just A Monday

Didn't really do a lot of knitting (or anything else) this weekend. I only have a few rows left before I do the decreases on my current sock, but don't know if I have the energy to work on it tonight. Spent the day helping watch 10 kids ... the oldest of which is 4 years old. I have to start telling Duh "NO" when she calls! Hee hee. Actually, they only needed me for about an hour and a half today but I stuck around chatting the rest of the afternoon.

Maybe I'll grab a quick bite to eat and then finish my sock. The Kids had mentioned getting together after they saw the Simpson Movie, but it's already 7:00 and I don't know what time they'll be out of the theatre. I had been invited to join them for the movie, but decided I didn't feel like going. Of course, that was before the kids started getting cranky! Um, the babysitting kids, not The Kids!

Knitting Lifeline!

So, I'm trying a new sock pattern, which seems to be knitting up pretty easily. I knit the cuff and the first repeat of the leg pattern (12 rounds) and debated putting in a "lifeline". Thought I wouldn't need it because the pattern was working up so easily, but put it in anyway. Well, you've guessed it. I just took out 10 rounds of the second repeat of the leg pattern. Good thing I had the lifeline in there, or I would have just frogged the whole thing and started over. Whew. TGFL! (thank goodness for lifelines)

The Hogwarts Owl Arrived

and my new sock pal is Morgana Bagman from the House of Ravenclaw. I'll be making a trip to the store today to see if I can find some nice yarn to get started on the socks. I haven't decided yet whether or not to buy or make stitch markers; but I have some time to debate that one. May have to look at beads and stuff today, too!

And So It Ends

Months of anticipation - ordered my book in February. Hours of waiting - book wasn't delivered until 1:00 pm. Reading reading reading reading on Saturday, didn't even have the tv on after C left. Helped Duh organize her apartment yesterday, so didn't get my reading done. Finished the book last night. And now it is all over, except waiting for movie number six.

I was very lucky, though. I didn't hear even one spoiler after the book was out, and only two (which were kinda contradicting) prior to the book release. I kinda believed the first, didn't believe the second. And the actuality was somewhere in between the two!

It's here!!!

Still Not Here

Maybe they lost it. Maybe the delivery person is sitting in his/her vehicle and reading it. *sigh*

A Watched Cauldron

never boils, so I'm going to go to brunch with C and hope that my book arrives while I'm gone. It is very sad and pathetic of me to be sitting around waiting for a book ... and I AM hungry, so I guess I might as well go eat. Obviously neither of the critters is going to fix me anything; in fact, last night Buster ate the cookies I had set aside for breakfast. Probably be half an hour or so before C gets here, so there is still time for Deathly Hallows to arrive .... hint, hint, Mr UPS Man!

Waiting For HP

Sitting here, waiting for the Hogwarts owl post. I know it is still early in the day, but I really want my book! I wonder if it was sent via UPS or USMail. I hope it is USMail because they deliver earlier in the day than UPS. But then, if it is coming next day delivery, that would probably be UPS. And aren't they supposed to deliver by 10:30? But that is still almost 3 hours from now! Wish I'd braved the crowds at the bookstore last night and gone and bought a copy. But then I'd have 2 copies and I only need one. Guess I could have given one away, but everyone I know that wants one already had it pre-ordered. Was that a noise on the porch? Hold on while I go and look ... nope, not yet. Maybe I should be knitting, to keep my mind off the book. But then I'd probably mess up my stitch pattern and have to frog everything. When will my book get here? I'm ready to read!!!

Harry Potter 7

The new book should arrive tomorrow! I can't wait, although I guess I have to, don't I? Hope F doesn't have any plans for the weekend because MY plan is to read read read. Of course, I do a lot of that all the time anyway, but this is scheduled reading. Almost like the mandatory reading for school...

Excited About Sock Swap

Can't wait to get the name and "house" of my swap partner! Wonder who it will be and what color yarn I'll get to knit with. Of course, I'm nervous, too. What if my buddy doesn't like the socks?

Hogwarts Socks!

Hogwarts Sock Swap TWO

I've signed up for the Sock Swap! My first homework assignment is to answer the following questions:
#1) I have been sorted into the house of Hufflepuff.
#2) My shoe size is 6-1/2 to 7.
#3) Will be answered when I find my tape measure ... about 8-1/2 inches from heel to tip of the big toe.
#4) See answer #3! Also about 8-1/2 inches around the ball of the foot.
#5) Favorite needle brands ... Clover, Brittany and ??? in sizes 3-9.
#6) I'd love to try new needle brands, although I don't like metal. The smaller sizes tend to make my hand ache, but I can use 'em for short periods of time.
#8) I have no known allergies, and the knitting I do is NOT exposed to smoke, although I have a dog and a cat.
#9) I live in the US, and would prefer to not have an International pal, only because of the shipping costs ...

And I'd like everyone I know to join up, too! Just click on the blue title above!

And Another Month Goes By

Lets see ... I've been to several movies - "Evan Almighty", "Transformers", "Ratatouille" and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" (twice). Helped Duh move to her new "all my own" apartment this weekend.

Have an interview tomorrow at the Apple One employment agency, so they can maybe find me a job. Not that I really want one, mind you, but I guess I do need income! Have to fill out their on-line application and bring in my resume (even though I've sent them about a dozen for different positions I've applied for).

Had dinner with Dad last week; he's looking good. Kinda tired, but he'd had a long travel day on Wednesday and hadn't quite recovered. We had an enjoyable dinner (Dad, us and the kids) at Outback. They thought I was silly to order a cheeseburger, but it really sounded good (and was!).

Not much else going on ....
