Hogwarts Design Contest

As part of the Hogwarts Sock Swap 2, we were challenged to come up with our own pattern design. Since I'm not the most "crafty" person in town, I decided to enter the pattern I'm using for The Other Morgana's socks. I've combined elements from different sock patterns, and I think they are turning out very well. Once they decided to behave, that is. Anyway, I have the pattern posted on my Morgana Lovegoods blog if anyone is interested in looking at it (well, anyone but Ms Bagman, that is!).

Little Thing at Breakfast

It may look as though LT is very interested in my book (although she is reading it upside-down). However, what REALLY has her attention is the bowl of Lucky Charms that is just on the other side of the book ... This picture was taken after about 15 "head in the cereal bowl" attempts on the part of Little Thing .

6 Degrees of Draco Malfoy

For the second contest in the Hogwarts Sock Swap Two, we have to connect Draco Malfoy to one of three different characters in 6 steps. I have my answer posted on my Hogwarts blog ... http://morganalovegoods.blogspot.com/

Sock Progress

Well, I've been working on my re-knit Tidal Wave socks, and have just started the toe decreases on the first sock. It is knitting up much better than the one that I had to frog. Seems to be going faster, I've actually followed the pattern correctly so the lace is looking good, and the seams on the toe are lining up properly. Bought another skein of the Tofutsies yarn today, and a pair of sock blockers. Hopefully I'll be able to get some nice pictures of the socks once I get one finished.

Haven't had any luck in the job search yet. It's a bit discouraging. I really don't want to drive far for work, but it is beginning to look like I might have to.

Went to lunch yesterday with the Boyd ladies, and had a nice visit. It's beginning to look more and more like they may close the Chino sales office; Boyd hired 4 new sales people in the China division to do all the order input. I hope that, if it comes to closing the sales office, they give the sales ladies the same severance package that we received.

Hm, pizza should be here in half an hour. Hope F makes it home in time!

Wicked!

Saturday night, we went to the Pantages Theatre to see Wicked. We'd seen it last year, in Orange County, and just HAD to see it again. Ordered the tickets back in October or November .... anyway, it was FANTASTIC! The seats we had were great (Row W, Orchestra). It is such a neat story, the music is great, the dancing and costumes were wonderful. Just a magic night, if you'll excuse the pun! (and even if you won't)

The Pantages is beautiful. The decor of the theatre is the perfect setting for Wicked. It was hard to tell where the theatre ended and the sets began!

Yesterday, we went to S&R's for barbecued burgers. Very yummy! Dad and J were there, and we had a nice visit. I also received a Barnes and Noble gift card from Dad and J!

Worked on my sock for a bit today. I am ready to start the heel flap. Don't think I've ever frogged and re-knit a project so many times before! Anyway, this better be the last time on this sock. :-)

50 Ain't Bad!

So far, it's been pretty darn good ... received my package from B and the goodies from F, as mentioned below. And then, I received flowers from F, a b-day card from my Aunt, a couple phone calls, and a package of books that I had ordered from Amazon. A girl could get used to this!

The Big Five-Oh

Well, as of 9:13 tonight, I will be officially 50 years old. Don't know how this happened, seems like yesterday I was 25. Mom always said that once you hit twenty-one it's a fast downhill slide. Guess she was right!

F gave me a Borders gift card and a box of See's, and B sent a nice package with 3 books, a cd, and some Eeyore jammies. See, even if I am getting older, I'm not getting any more mature! Little Thing likes the box and wrapping paper .... Buster isn't very excited about birthdays.

Can't Believe I Just Did That!

Well, I wasn't happy with the sock I was working on; having problems with the toe decreases and it fits a little bit too loose. So, I just frogged the entire sock! Every single stitch! I am now starting over on SIZE ONE needles! I've also ordered new yarn for the Hogwart's Sock Swap because I wasn't happy with what I had. I like the yarn, but not for socks. So, I am currently starting completely over on both the projects I've been working on!

It's August Already

Well, today is the first official day for the Hogwart's Sock Swap. There have been a couple of trivia questions posted, but I'm not quick enough to earn points for Hufflepuff. Only the first one to post the correct answer gets the House Points. I'll keep trying!

Had a short job interview today, for a company that manufactures the roll-up garage doors. The lady I spoke with seemed very nice and friendly. She'll be calling (hopefully) in a couple days to set up a longer interview and time to fill out the application, etc. Of course, it's a Catch-22 situation. Don't want to work, can't afford to stay home. *sigh*
