Amusing answer!

On Family Feud - the category is: Name something a woman changes when she is bored. One of the men answered "For my ex-wife, it was her spouse."

She doesn't get points THAT easily

because I haven't been invited to post to her blog. So there.

Well, the 5 temps at work (me included, of course) were called into the boss' office this afternoon. She doesn't have a final end date for our employment, but is pretty sure she can keep us at least through the end of April! Yay! Another month of work ... She says she's really pleased with the work we are all doing, and would like to hire us if she could. Unfortunately, there aren't any job openings at this time. She's going to do the best she can to justify keeping us on for as long as possible (as she said, "it could be 2 months, it could be 2 years"). Of course, if it were 2 years I'd have to be hired permanent ... I want the benefits.

You THINK you won. . .

. . . but I just posted on mine, and now on yours. HA!
Spent the day today running around with P, trying to find a dress for one of her bridesmaids. It took some doing, but we were able to find one that we liked, although it wasn't her size. Asked them to call the other store and see if they had it; they did and would hold it for us until closing time today. P called the bridesmaid and told her that we were going to go and pick it up; she had every excuse in the book as to why we shouldn't. I could tell that P was getting more and more frustrated as the day went on (and so was I, to be honest). We went checked a few more stores, couldn't find anything we liked. So, we went to pick up the one that was being held for us. We got there, and decided to look just "once more" (we had been there earlier, but didn't see what we wanted). Found a dress that P liked, and we knew the bridesmaid would like because she had just bought one like it in blue a month or so ago for her birthday party. Whew, glad that is over with! Now P can relax .... at least about the dress!

Got home, started relaxing, and F called ... he's working later than he had anticipated; would I mind going to the house and letting Bubs out? Didn't really want to drive over there, but it's been a while since I've seen the critters and have been feeling guilty about that. They seemed pleased to see me (Little Thing meowed and meowed when I went in the door). Bubs was sleeping on the bedroom floor, but woke up and greeted me. He then greeted the leftover French fries I gave him. LT needed a treat too; fortunately there are still some in the packet on top of the fridge. I spent about half an hour with them, and am now back at home, freshly showered, and watching the last episode of The Tudors.
Well, looks like I'm going to make my "goal" of watching the full first season of The Tudors before the beginning of season 2 tonight. Only have one episode to go. Of course, I only have 2 more weeks of free Showtime so I won't be able to watch it after that, and will have to wait for the season to be available on DVD. Hopefully that won't take too long. Let's see, season one is 10 episodes, which is only 2-1/2 months. Maybe I can get the DVDs for my birthday! Bummer, just looked it up on imdb.com and discovered that season one aired a year ago, and the dvds came out on Jan 1. I can, however, download episodes for $1.99 each. That's only $20 for the season. Might have to do that since I don't know anyone who has Showtime and the abilities to tape the show.

In other news, my sister now has her own blog! I have added a link if anyone is interested in checking it out. And even if you aren't.

I'm a bit upset for P. The wedding is less than 5 weeks away (ok, just barely less, but still less) and one of her bridesmaids still hasn't even looked at the dress choices. She said she has a black dress she can wear; but it is not the same (or similar) to the ones the other girls will be wearing. P has told her that she has to get one of the chosen dresses; and C says he won't let her be in the wedding if she doesn't. I offered to tell the bridesmaid for P; she has others who have volunteered, too. I can't believe that this friend is being like this. I mean, the night I met her we were looking at pictures of dress choices and she was adamant about the girls all matching! I'm sure it will work out fine, but P and C don't need this stress added to the normal wedding stuff.

On the good side, invitations have gone out and RSVPs have already started to come in. I think it makes things a lot more "official". C was going to surprise P with a honeymoon cruise on the Monarch of the Seas (which is where he proposed) but found that they can get a longer cruise for about the same money if they want. So, he gave her the choice, and they are just trying to decide for sure where to go. Right now, the Bahamas seems to be winning ...

Need to talk to Sis about setting up a crafty day. Don't know when it will be, but we need to have one soon.

Well, I'm going to end for now. Hey, Sis, there's stuff on here that I haven't told you already! Actual news! heehee

:-) Got a call from my rep at the employment agency today, and he told me to plan on working another week at least! My last day was supposed to be on Monday, so it's good to know I'll have another few days. I'll miss the people I'm working with when it's time to go - especially Val. I think we've become pretty good friends in the past 2 months, and have already made sure we exchanged email and phone number info. I'm also planning on inviting her to our next "craftie" day (she does very nice crochet work).

I'm frustrated with the store where I've ordered my dress for the wedding. I knew at the time I ordered it that I was cutting it close, time-wise. They told me I could call on Tues to find out the actual ship date from the warehouse; when I called I was told that it isn't at the warehouse, they are waiting for it to ship TO the warehouse from "overseas". I've been stressing all week about this and finally decided to try and find something else. I bought some Palazzo (sp?) pants last night which I can return within a month if I end up not needing them. Called the store today to cancel the dress, and was told that they "located one in Philadelphia" on Wednesday and it will be shipping out to the local store next week. I told her I still wanted to cancel, and she said it might already be on the way. However, I can wait for it to arrive and try it on again; if I don't like it they'll give me a refund. I said ok. Val told me I should have just canceled it because of the stress factor (they really should have called me on Weds to let me know they found one, since they knew how worried I was). I've decided to wait, though, because the Bridesmaids have dresses ordered from the same store and I don't want to cause problems if they haven't been delivered yet. I've turned into a "Mother-of-the-Groomzilla"!

Just found out that season two of The Tudors starts on Sunday. I've just finished watching episode four from season one. Guess I'm going to have to spend the weekend in front of the tv!

WHAT'S UP WITH CBS??

Where is my Survivor? It is Thursday - and they are showing basketball! They are NOT supposed to do that to us. Sometimes life is not fair.

So, I'm listening to Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, and the first guy up missed the second question. Oh - he got 1310 or something like that on his SATs and has 2 college degrees. And he messed up on a second grade question. They asked him the $1 million question just for the heck of it, and he got it right .... ouch!

Well, the first visit with the in-laws since the separation is over, and I can relax. I don't know why I was concerned about it, but I'm glad it is over. The morning started out with F coming to pick me up to meet the kids for breakfast. He gave me a See's dark chocolate Easter egg that he got from a co-worker (kids' fundraiser). I gave him a See's dark chocolate Easter egg that I got from a co-worker (grandkids' fundraiser). Two minds thinking alike ...

Had a nice breakfast with the kids at Corky's and then took the looong drive out to Joshua Tree. F was very good; didn't swerve from lane to lane or cuss at other drivers. Got to the in-law's place right at 1:00. N and R were there, and then F and his dad picked up ME and her daughter. Little Sav is getting to be a handful, but she's adorable. She didn't eat her dinner (too much candy earlier in the day) but promised to "eat all my cake" if we let her have some. Dinner was really good - ham, turkey breast, mashed taters, yams, asparagus. Mmmm.

We headed for home about 6:30, and made it in 2 hours. Not bad, considering there were quite a few places with slow and go traffic.

So, that hurdle has been jumped and I can relax now. :-)

Found a dress

for the wedding. So now all those who were bugging me about it can leave me alone. :0) I have it on order from David's Bridal; it is Style #6540 and I am getting the sage green. I was going to get the champagne color so I didn't clash with the wedding colors (turquoise and black) and then remembered that the bridesmaids are wearing black with turquoise jewelry so I won't clash. And, as my son so elegantly phrased it ... I "don't have to match the tables"! So, the dress is ordered and I can relax on that point.

Survivor is on tonight! I know it is only Wednesday, but the March Madness basketball starts tomorrow night so they move Survivor to Weds. Don't know why - who'd wanna watch basketball? Not me, that's for sure! I didn't put the dollar amounts on my previous post. It wasn't because I now owe more than Sis does (although I do) but because I couldn't remember what the amounts were. So - it is: Sis $2.00 and Me $3.00. Sure hope Ozzy can get these people to win the challenges, and that Ozzy doesn't get voted off tonight!

Talked to CR a little bit today - I guess they knew about the office closing last week (rumors), but weren't allowed to say anything until it was made official yesterday. She and BB will be leaving when the office closes; neither one want to transfer to Modesto.

I'm ready for dinner -- guess I'll go look to see what yummyness is in the fridge.

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Wow - just found out that they are closing the Chino sales office for Boyd. We didn't think it would last much more than a year after the plant closed, but I'm still surprised. JO has already been laid off, and the ladies have the option of transferring to Modesto or leaving the company in 60-90 days. That really sucks. I'm sure neither of the ladies will be moving to Modesto, so that puts 3 more Boyd employees out on the hunt for jobs.

And the company that my Sis works for is closing the office where she works and she will be transferring to Ontario. That's a good move, for me, to have her in Ontario. She won't be too far from where I live and where I'm currently working, although I probably won't still be working there by the time she moves. However, we may be able to get a few lunches together!

Too many changes ....

Monday, March 17, 2008

So, I have once again been very lax about posting. Guess I just haven't felt like writing. My Survivor team is doing awful (they've lost 4 challenges in a row, so I've added $2.00 to what I'm going to end up paying Sis). Work is about the same, and looks like it will be ending in 2 weeks.

I've been warned to avoid SK's daughter, because she has made it her mission in life to color my hair. She has decided that I would look gorgeous with "rich brown" hair. However, I'd still have the same old face so I don't think she's right. And, it is starting to sound tempting. I know, I know ... I'm the one who says that the white in my hair doesn't bother me. And it really doesn't. However, it's the "non-white" hair that I'd like colored. It's gone from the nice auburn it used to be to a drab greyish-brown. I've had a lot of people tell me I don't look my age, so if I changed the hair color maybe it would boost my ego a bit. Goodness knows I could use an ego boost every now and then.

The wedding is getting closer and closer and I still don't have a dress. VT at work is giving me a hard time about that, and I know she's right. I'm going to make it my goal to find something by Sunday. Well, by Saturday. I'm spending Easter with the in-laws.

Well, can't think of anything else new right now, maybe something will occur to me later.

A Post For My Sister

What's green and grows on trees?

Monday, March 3, 2008

Today is my 29th wedding anniversary. It seems weird to be saying it is my anniversary, since we are currently separated. I did receive some beautiful flowers at work today, from F. He said that he's been giving me flowers on this date for most of the past 29 years (except for when we were really really broke) and he didn't think he should stop now. A couple of the ladies at work thought it was my birthday, since they know I'm separated. It was very sweet of F to send the flowers, and I feel bad that I didn't even send him a card. Just didn't think it would be appropriate, given the situation. (No, Sis, not THAT kind of "situation"!)

Got a nice email from my sister-in-law, RM, today. They just found out on Saturday about the separation. She told me to call her if I need to vent or if there is anything she or they can do.

My scarf for ES is coming along very nicely. I have about an arms' length completed (my arm, that is) and it is about 4-5 inches wide. I'll be working on it more tonight and will post a picture when it is done.

Well, that's it for now.....

Sunday, March 2, 2008

Now, see - I spent all that time updating my blog last night and I know that Sis was online this morning. But are there any comments on my blog? No. I bet she didn't even read it. And I wonder if she'll notice the other changes I made ...

Saturday, March 1, 2008

Some people. Humph. I was informed today that I do not update my blog often enough to keep SOMEone entertained. I pointed out to this SOMEone that my life isn't entertaining enough to write about! So, in order to keep my sister happy, here is an update.

My Ozzy found the hidden immunity idol on Survivor this week, so I am happy about that. As long as he isn't overly confident and not use it ... keep your ears open, Ozzy! Since the fans lost both challenges (Ozzy was fantastic in the first challenge, by the way) S now owes another dollar. Also, since Mikey B was voted off, she has to choose a new person AND will have to pay $.75 per loss from now on!

This makes the score: S - $2.00 and Me - $1.00.
HA - that'll teach her to complain about blogs.

She also complained that I use initials instead of the name of the person. *I* don't feel that I should put names unless people have given permission. And since I haven't asked anyone for permission, it hasn't been granted. Just for her info, though -- the post we discussed today is the person I told you it was, if you were referring to the one that sent the DVD as a house-warming present.

Went out last night with Duh, SK, and her daughters. Had an alright time, although sitting at the bar isn't my thing. It was crowded, and loud, and I don't drink .... but it was nice to get out for a while. Don't know that I'd go again, but I'll probably be forced into it once in a while. I was informed that I am a beautiful and vital woman, and should either dye my hair blonde or red. And, if last night was the last time (ok, I'm running out of initials to use for people. I need to come up with nicknames) ever saw me she'd be "devastated". This comment was made when she was a little less than sober, but I'll accept it as a compliment anyway.

Went to breakfast with F, C and P this morning at one of our favorite restaurants. Well, former favorites, anyway. Found out that they just fired the manager this week. Since he was the main reason we like the restaurant, we probably won't be back. His wife is still working there for now, but I'm sure she'll leave as soon as he gets a new management position. Just hope he gets something soon, and that it'll be near enough for us to continue going! He'd been told in the past, by the Mayor of Ontario, that he isn't "allowed" to go to any other city so that sounds good for us. And him, of course!

After breakfast, I went out to S's house (I'm going to start referring to her as "Sis"). We were supposed to be having a "Stitch 'n' B**ch" but the other invitees couldn't make it. So, the two of us ate some yummy soup that Sis made, and a pretty good salad that I "made" and then drove out to a new yarn store that C found for us in Pasadena. It was a nice store, but the owner is a little "clingy" and kept trying to show us different yarns and books. We both ended up buying yarn (which isn't normal for Sis, since she usually spins her own). She bought some really pretty sock yarn, and I got some yummy red yarn to make a gift scarf. We probably won't go to that store often, since it's a bit out of the way but it is nice to know it's there when we need it!

Well, I hope this is enough to keep Sis happy for a day or two. Even though it is all reruns, since she already knew about Survivor, and I told her all the other stuff today!
