Quiet Day

Just another quiet day in the life of me. Spent a little time with Buster (brought him some "smashed" taters and gravy). Played on FoRT a bit, read a lot. Did my laundry (two loads, still have some miscellaneous stuff to wash but it can wait). Read. Ate some chicken which wasn't very good. Watched some tv. Read a lot. Finished reading Inkdeath. Am now watching Trading Spaces and have started reading The Pagan Stone by Nora Roberts. And that's about it for the day.

Late (But Cute)

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Post T-Day Post

Had a rather leisurely day today. Met The Kids for breakfast (I hope nobody is counting up the number of days that start out with going to breakfast instead of being good and eating at home) at Corky's and then they headed of to go shopping and I came home. Got a call from Duh; she invited me over to help her work on her Christmas gifts project. Wasn't really sure if I wanted to go over but I was feeling very depressed when she called and figured I should get out of the house instead of sitting here alone. So, I went over and we "projected" for a couple of hours. Had fun and got my mind off the depression. We also finished making 4-1/2 of her gifts.

This evening I went to dinner with The Kids and one of my BILs, his wife and kids. FM joined us later; he, apparently, had been out on an audition for doing radio commercial voice-overs! I'm happy for him as it is something he's been wanting to do for a long time. Hope it works out - but he still can't quit his day job. I need the "people who know people" aspect for future Survivor finales!

As to the depression mentioned above - Buster is doing poorly again. His leg was bleeding when FM got home last night so there was a trip to the vet planned for today. I didn't know if he had been or not, or if it would be the "final visit" .... so after talking to Duh I called FM for the info (I was tired of waiting for him to call me). Bubs has an infected leg and is on medication. I feel like I've been on an emotional roller coaster for the last week, and it just really hit hard today. I'm glad that Duh called and got me out of the house. I may go back tomorrow, too - and The Girl and I are planning to see Twilight on Sunday. Yes, we've both already seen it; what's your point?

Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving to all ...
Started out the day by meeting with The Kids and Ex for breakfast. We were going to go to Corky's but ended up at Richie's since Corky's was closed. Came back to the apartment, where we were joined by Dad and J. We visited for a while and then went our separate ways - The Kids were going to her dad's for T-Day dinner, and the rest of us drove out to my former in-laws. There was a large group there; Pa and Ma, BIL1, BIL2, BIL3 & Wife, SIL & daughter, and BIL5 & Wife and kids. Wow, that's 16 people - add in the 4 dogs and you get a very full house!

Dinner was very good - turkey, stuffing, ham, green bean casserole (the first time I've ever had it!), rolls, and some very weird mashed potatoes. Seems that BIL2 goofed when adding the milk; he used egg nog instead. Needless to say, I didn't care for them. We also had plenty of desserts - apple pie, pumpkin pie, ice cream and my cherry cobbler. Which, I must very modestly note, was a great hit. In fact, I overheard BIL2 say he had 3 servings of cobbler! This was very nice, the fact that he really liked it. But since there wasn't a lot of it (only made an 8x8 pan) there isn't any left over for me to have for breakfast.

Got home about 20 minutes ago and am ready for a rest. Didn't sleep well at all last night so I'm hoping to get a good rest tonight. Now I just have to decide: if Duh calls in the morning, wanting me to go shopping with her -- should I answer my phone or ignore it?

Home Early Today

Things came together well today. There wasn't a lot of mail at work, so we didn't have a lot of invoices to enter. That meant we were able to get everything done early - and the boss said that we could leave when the work was done. We're even going to get paid for the full 8 hour day, even though I left almost 2 hours early! I was able to drive home (stopping for gas - $1.829/gallon - and stopping at the grocery store for cobbler fixin's) and be here by about 3:20. Not bad!

Of course, when I sent an email to Sis (bragging about being home early) I received her Out of Office message saying that she, too, was gone for the weekend. And SHE gets paid for tomorrow and Friday, whereas I don't. Not good.

I've apparently been on FoRT too long because my laptop is getting quite warm. Gonna end for now; and if I don't get a chance to post again until after tomorrow --

Email Access FAIL

We receive several types of invoices at work; non-inventory, petty cash/expense reports, inventory shipped to us and "drop ships" - items ordered by us but delivered direct to our customer. Generally when we receive the drop ship invoices they are sent in the overnight bags to the originating division for approval; they are then signed and returned to us for data entry. The last week of each month, however, they are faxed to the branches and someone will call us to verbally give the approval for payment. This was given to me to do today; separate the invoices by branch and fax them, and then receive the approval phone calls.

Trying to be efficient, I went to the reception desk after lunch to see if I had any messages (I don't have email or voice mail set up, so they would have had to take written messages). Well, just as I got to the desk and asked, the phone rang - and it was for me. So I went back to my desk, took the call and started working. Figured MF would have brought me any messages, or called me to let me know I had them. Didn't think any more about it. Had a few branches that didn't call with approvals, so I called them; apparently, they had "left messages" at lunchtime. Hmm. Better go check.

Well, apparently, the phone messages are generally relayed to us via email; and apparently some had been sent to my email box. That I don't have. But apparently I do - at least I'm listed in the directory and the receptionists haven't been getting error messages when they send stuff to me. Someone from IT is going to activate the Outlook on my computer for me this week.

Also found out today that The Girl went and saw Twilight this weekend. Had I known she was interested in seeing it, I would have asked her to go with me. I suppose she probably went with friends, though - while I went alone. She is also reading the book; I told her she could have borrowed mine; but she borrowed one from "a friend". Humph. Guess my usefulness as the lending library is over. LOL! Although I do have the other 3 books in the series ...

It Pays To Look

at your "junk mail". Didn't get around to checking the mailbox yesterday, so I stopped and got the mail this morning before going to Starbucks for breakfast. Actually sat there in a comfy chair and read for close to an hour ... it was nice. Anyway, when I got home I brought in all the mail that has been accumulating in my car. I have a habit of bringing in the "good" mail and leaving the flyers and junk mail in the door pocket for a few days. Sorted through the "junk" and the stuff from yesterday. One of the junk envelopes I was going to through away, unopened, happened to be my replacement ATM card .... d'oh!

Also had a call from FM today; Buster is doing very poorly again - not only is his back right leg really bad but his front left is also quite swollen and he isn't eating well again. FM suggested that I make a trip out to the house and of course I did. This was, quite possibly, my last visit with Buster. And that is all I'd better say on this subject or I won't be able to control my emotions.

Have to figure logistics for getting out to Joshua Tree for Thanksgiving. I'm working on the presumption that FM and I will be driving out together (probably in Henry) and, according to an email I just found in my spam folder, Dad and J would like to ride with us. Not sure how that will work, logistically - I guess they'd all come to my place and we'll leave from here.

Well, I'm going to go and visit FoRT for a little bit. See ya'll later.

Twilight - The Movie (in my opinion)

I went to the movie with, I hope, an open mind. I've had mixed feelings about it since I didn't care for Bella (the protagonist) in the books. Even Edward, the male lead, wasn't my favorite. The character I liked best from the books has a very minor role in Twilight, so wasn't sure what to expect from the movie. I've also read good and bad about the movie - seems people were very thrilled or quite disappointed. So - to my opinion.

Still not a fan of Bella, and Edward was ok - there were a lot of moments that were very dragged out that should have been "quick glimpses". There seemed to be an awful lot of "staring at each other" and "freeze frame" moments that could/should have been eliminated. However, I like the family relationship among the Cullens and would have liked to see a lot more of the rest of the family. Especially Alice, Emmett and Jasper. James was very nice to watch ... and if it doesn't sound too creepy coming from a woman my age, I like Jacob (still) and will look forward to seeing more of him in the sequels. It's kind of sad going to see a love story knowing that you are 9 years older than the dads of the main characters .... and Bella's dad was quite nice to look at. He, also, should have had a bigger role.

All in all I enjoyed the movie and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of giggling and distractions from the teens in the audience. It was also nice to see that I wasn't the only non-teen encumbered "mature" one there.

Unfortunately, this entire post means absolutely nothing to those who I know read it.

Today - So Far

Had a really fun morning. Met Sis for breakfast at Denny's (chiggin-fried steak 'n' eggs) and then we went to a craft boutique. Spent a couple of hours wandering around (it's a fun boutique, because it is held in a community center so there are lots of little rooms set up, besides the "main room"). Saw a lot of really nice things (and a co-worker, who had a booth there) but only bought 2 pair of Chrismas earrings (for a whopping total cost of $3). We then went to Borders, where I only bought one book. Yes, I'm quite proud of my restraint. Actually, I didn't see any other books that I really wanted and Sis is lending me Inkdeath so I have plenty to read.

Decided to try braving the crowds - went to the $4 theatre and bought a ticket for the 4:15 showing of Twilight. The salesgirl recommended getting there about a half an hour early; not sure if I'll do that or not. After all, how hard will it be to find "one seat together"? After that, I'll go across to El Pollo Loco and buy dinner to bring home.

Oh - and I had an email "from Kristen and Rob" (the stars of Twilight); actually from Summit Entertainment. Apparently they will be making a movie of book two, New Moon. What a surprise ... not.

Getting My Hopes Up

While I was at lunch today, DB came in to the break room. I'm not sure what her actual title is, but she has a somewhat supervisory position in the Accounts Payable department. She told me that she had received some good news this morning - and then told me that JR (her bosses' boss) is pushing to get me hired! Yayayay!! Nothing, of course, is official and it may not come to pass, but I get a little smile every time I think of it. Mentioned it to LM in the Human Resources department (we've become pretty good friends) and she said she was aware of it, but of course couldn't say anything. She says it wouldn't be until after the first of the year because they don't have it in the budget for a new hire in the AP department for 2008; but just the thought of the possibility is a boost. It's one thing to have your co-workers telling you they hope you get hired; it's even better when it is coming from "higher up"!

Thought of lots of things to post about today but can't remember any of them. I'm going to have to ask at work if I could get email access -- then I could send my thoughts home while I'm thinking them. Besides, it would make parts of my job easier if I could email the buyers in the other divisions. Yeah, yeah, that's it ....

Well, the sketti is about ready so I'm going to eat my dinner, then take my shower and get ready for Survivor.

Radio Station Ad

There is a local radio station that takes pride in playing "what they want" (that's their philosophy). All the commercials, promos, etc are pre-recorded. Saw an ad for the station on the back of a bus...
"It's not that we don't have DJs. It's that we do have duct tape."

I lost my stupid ATM card. Now it'll be 5-7 business days before I get a replacement. Have to remember to go to the bank tomorrow and get some cash to get me through the next few days. Ergh.

Efficient - Not So Much

So, I went to bed last night feeling quite proud of myself. I stopped and visited Duh and ST on the way home, then stopped at Staters and got some stuff I needed, along with a piece of chicken for dinner and one for today's lunch. Got home, put away the freezer items, and then started my wash. Ate dinner, then went and transferred the laundry to the dryer. Back to the apartment to do a little tidying and computering. Back to the laundry room and got the clothes; back in time for the 8:00 lineup on CBS (see post below for clip from Big Bang Theory). Folded & hung up laundry while watching tv. Went to bed feeling quite pleased.

Then - this morning arrives. While entering the dining room area of the apartment, I notice the box on the table. Yep - the one with the piece of chicken purchased for lunch today. Even though I think it would have been ok, I'm not willing to risk food poisoning so fixed myself a PB&J for lunch. *sigh* Thought about putting the chicken out by the dumpster area for the wandering kitties, but remembered in time that one of the tenants has a "helper" dog and doesn't always have the dog leashed when he brings it out for exercise and whatnot. Figured I didn't want to be the cause of the dog getting a chicken bone in its throat so it'll just go in the trash. What a waste.

Paid $2.25-9/10 per gallon for gas this afternoon; not bad! I know I've seen it lower but don't like the gas station with the lower price. It's only a difference of about $.04/gallon, I think.

Now I'm home and waiting for it to be time to leave for taco night. Yum!

Monday

Ok, for those of you (and you know who you are) who have never watched Big Bang Theory, you missed a good episode tonight. Sheldon taught us a new spin on the old rock-paper-scissors method of making choices. Fortunately for you, I found the scene on YouTube ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBj7-50bloE
Just gotta love Sheldon!

Stopped at Staters for chicken on the way home tonight, and bought a new flavor of so-called iced cream. It was ok, but I don't know that I'd buy it again. Stater Bros brand "holiday" iced-cream, called Hot Chocolate. It's milk chocolate ice cream, some marshmallow cream and little chocolate chunks. The marshmallow was too creamy; I would have preferred a more gooey marshmallow, or whole ones like they put in Rocky Road. The flavor was pretty good, just not marshmallow-y enough for my taste.

Duh has asked me to knit some little hats for her. She'd pay me, of course, if I can do them and if I can figure out what to charge. Not sure I'll be able to do them because the needles would be very very small (she wants the hats to have about a 4" circumference around the brim). These will be used to top alcohol bottles that she will give as gifts. Anyway, I'll try and see what I can come up with ... although I doubt very seriously I'll be able to do the 20 she is hoping for!

Guess that's about it for now.

Another Lazy Day In The Life Of Me

Didn't get much sleep last night, not sure if it was the neighbors waking me up or just being awake. I hate it when I can't sleep - toss and turn and look at the clock, toss and turn some more and try not to look at the clock, look anyway and it's been a whole 20 minutes since the last time ... anyway, I got up probably about 7:00 and took my medicine about 7:30. Decided to wait on my shower since I want to try that new shampoo that was recommended to me by someone over at FoRT.

Met with The Kids and The Ex for brunch (had chicken fried steak and eggs, boy was it good). From there I walked over to Trader Joe's to get the shampoo and to the Mail Boxes Etc store to mail off the insurance paperwork. Sure will be nice to have insurance again. Drove over to Ontario, where I had Henry washed. It wasn't the best car wash he's ever had; they really didn't do a good job and actually spent about half the time on Henry as they spent on smaller vehicles. However, it was to raise money to help a family with funeral expenses (for a friend of a friend of the daughter of a co-worker) and was only $5, so I don't mind too much. Went to Target and got a new charger for my cell phone, and a new hands-free headset. Should have bought a wireless headset, but they didn't have any and I didn't want to wait any longer or go somewhere else to find one. The Ex will probably be annoyed because I paid "full price" for them; he was going to pick them up for me at the $2 store. However, it's been a week and he didn't have them this morning (well, I didn't ask, but he didn't say "here's your stuff" so I'm guessing he didn't have them).

Came home and took my second dose of meds for the day; watched some tv, read, and napped. It is now almost 6:00 and time to start thinking about dinner. Maybe I'll shower first, and try out the new shampoo. Sure hope it makes my hair feel softer than it does normally.

Sis and I are tentatively going to a crafty fair next weekend; hope that is still "on"!

Went online today and watched the videos from Survivor: Ponderosa (where the jury members are kept sequestered between tribal council appearances). The ones from this week, after Charlie joined Marcus, are hilarious. The time spent choosing an outfit for TC ... sheesh!

Oh, and apparently I'm just as boring on MySpace as I am here - the "new friend" has already dropped off my friends list. LOL

Congrats To Sis!

Sis was presented with an "Associate of the Quarter" award at work!

Dentist Is Pleased

Had to go in so the dentist could make sure I'm healing properly, and he was quite pleased with how I'm doing. The gum is healing well, and he was impressed with how little pain I've had. I'm just glad it is over with (I bet you all are, too - so you don't have to read about it any more!)

Tonight is Survivor and I sure hope they merge. I really don't think Matty is going to last too much longer and have tried to think of a replacement. Not sure if I've come up with my next choice yet, but I have an idea on who to choose.

The mountains were nice and clear this morning; of course, I didn't have the camera with me. Maybe they'll be just as nice tomorrow and I can get a picture to post. I bet Sis got a good shot of them out of her office window .... I'll have to go check out her blog and find out. Speaking of blogs, I'm going to have to nag at The Boy so he'll update his. Unless he did in the last 24 hours, of course.

That's about it for now; I may post again later.

Dentist Trip Is Over

At least for now. I have to go back tomorrow afternoon just so they can make sure I'm starting to heal properly but that should be painless. I chickened out and paid extra for the Nitrous; I just didn't think I could handle the extraction without it. I've had other dental work done without the gas but this was just too nerve-wracking for me. I'm really glad I did, too - the dentist made a comment about how difficult the tooth was to extract. He also, by the way, mentioned that my mouth is very small, and requested that I "bring a bigger mouth" next time. This is the second dentist who has mentioned my small mouth. Too bad they never put it in writing...

Found a business card stuck in the window of Henry when I was leaving the dentist's office. Got irritated (don't people know how annoying it is to have to remove stuff from your windows??) and tossed the card onto the dashboard. Brought it in the house, looked at it - and it belongs to The Boy! Guess he had a few questions for the dentist and left his calling card for me. Glad I didn't just throw it away!

Well, I'm going to have a little so-called iced cream to wash down the Vicodin and hope that the pain pills work. So far, I'm pain-free but that could change at any moment.

Don't You Just Hate It

when you think of all kinds of things to write on your blog, but by the time you get home to write them you've forgotten it all? Sheesh, I must be getting old.

Work was a bit different today. I was a little worried since the majority of my work consists of entering the invoices that we receive on a daily basis. With no mail today, and nothing left over from yesterday, I was concerned that I'd be sent home early. Well, one of the ladies didn't come in (she has a brand-new granddaughter and stayed home to take care of the elder one) and one of the ladies left around 10:00. So, I got to help with the check run part of the job. Mainly consisted of pulling backup from the files, sorting into the different categories (need to pay right away, discounted for early payment, and regular) and then attaching the checks after they are printed. Doesn't sound like it would take a full day, but ya know - it did! Of course, the lady that I pulled backups for has the most invoices to pull.... figure ONE VENDOR had about 8 pages of the report. Anyway, it was nice to have something different to do.

Got my first "friend request" on MySpace tonight - well, first "non-family" request, anyway. And that's about all I can think of to report. Guess I'm off to bed; dentist tomorrow (ick).

Monday, November 10, 2008

Well, I didn't figure out anything to do with my Sunday so ended up doing nothing. I considered going out to the Harvest Fair (even figured I'd pay to get in instead of volunteering, since they didn't really need me there) but decided I didn't feel like it. Thought about going and wandering the mall but that didn't sound very interesting. So, I ended up doing a little tidying up of the apartment and watching tv, reading, and had a short nap. Not an exciting day but it was nice.

Get to have a tooth extraction on Wednesday (well, tentatively scheduled for Weds, anyway). Broke the back off the last molar on the bottom right side; it has a sharp edge that's been tearing the heck out of my tongue for a little over a week. Had a dental appointment today and they can't save it; which is a bummer. I'm kind of nervous about it because I won't be put under ... they'll just numb the area. It will be nice to not have my tongue rubbed raw.

Dinner At Dad and J's

Went to dinner at Dad and J's tonight (if you couldn't tell from the title of this post) to celebrate Dad's birthday. They fixed a really yummy dinner - pork roast with taters and carrots cooked in with it; scalloped potatoes, corn on the cob and rolls. I brought a chocolate cake for dessert. Had a pleasant conversation prior to eating (Sis and Rafe and FM were there, too). Then, as we were finishing dinner, I got a pleasant surprise. Dad had some letters that Mom had written to Auntie back in the 1960's! It was so fun to read what she had written about "us kids" back then (although Sis wasn't around for most of that time). In fact, in one letter (July 1963) Mom mentioned she was going to a baby shower that evening and hoped it didn't "give her ideas". Need I point out that Sis was born in April 1964???

We've canceled the knitting day for tomorrow since Rafe's D&D game was canceled. Don't know what I'll do with my day but I'm sure I'll figure out something.

Another Weekend

Here it is, Friday evening. Had a bit of a surprise when I got home - well, not really a surprise that anyone would be interested in but I was happy to see it. The atomic clock, which has been off by an hour since the time change, is now correct. I don't know why it didn't change when it was supposed to but I'm glad that it's fixed.

Stopped at Stater Bros on the way home from work and picked up a few things. Decided to bake a cake for Dad's birthday dinner (hope they don't already have one). Of course, it is chocolate with chocolate icing and strawberry jam in the center. Didn't put any "niggles and dimes" in it, so Dad may be a bit disappointed, but I think he'll be happy with the cake. Even if they already have a dessert. If necessary, maybe I'll let Sis take it home (or most of it) for Rafe's D&D game on Sunday.

I'm still not sure if we will be meeting at Starbucks or if Sis will be coming here for knitting on Sunday. Doesn't really matter either way to me. I think we'd be more comfy at the apartment but I don't supply mocha fraps. We could meet somewhere for brunch and then come back here, though. Or knit for a while and then go out to eat. Guess we can work it out tomorrow.

Watching Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader; the celebrity contestant is Gene Simmons from the rock band Kiss. I've seen him on other shows, and he is quite an intelligent man. You'd never have guessed it from his rock'n'roll-all-night-and-party-every-day days. He speaks four languages (Hungarian, English, Hebrew and German). He's about to go for the million dollar question.

Missed a call from FM's dad; haven't called him back yet. According to FM the call is to invite me for Thanksgiving dinner. Not sure how I feel about going. I haven't been invited anywhere else; I know The Kids will be at her dad's place; and eldest BIL and youngest BIL (with his family) will be there. All reasons to go. I'm not sure how FM feels about it (what if he has someone he wanted to invite???) and I don't think BIL 2 and BIL 3 want me there. As I mentioned after the birthday celebration, it was just a feeling I had - but I think they thought I didn't belong at a family celebration. Plus, this will be the first anniversary of Joe's death. Bound to be an emotional day and I don't know if my being there will make it better or worse for anyone. Guess I could flat-out ask people, but I'm not quite that brave. Dilemma - I haz one!

If you were wondering - Gene dropped out with $500k. He didn't want to risk the money that is going to the Pediatric Aids Foundation. Good thing: he would have answered incorrectly.

Day Ending Better Than I Thought It Would

Had a text message from FM this morning, saying that Bubs was really bad again and may have to be "let go" this weekend. Poor dog isn't eating again, and can't put weight on the back leg. FM called and talked to the vet, who authorized a refill on the prednisone (which really seemed to help last time). I picked up the pills after work and went to visit Buster and Little Thing. To my very pleased surprise, Bubs was very alert and happy when I got to the house. He didn't great me at the door but was lying on the bed and wagging his tail. I gave him his first dose of prednisone in a piece of cookie. I figured I'd bring him his food bowl, but he followed me down the hall. I put a couple little pieces of cookie into the food and mixed it up; he ate about half the food. So, things are looking much brighter! I know it's just a matter of time, but if the meds can keep him relatively pain-free and happy, it's well worth the trips to the vet! And I'm glad I had a cookie in my purse.

Now all I need is for Matty to get away from those ...um ... contestants?? ... on the Fang tribe, he may have a chance at winning a challenge. I can't afford for him to keep losing! It was pointed out on FoRT that he looks like a grown-up Bobby Brady. Sis says it's been too long since she's seen Mike Lookinland "growed up", so here's a picture for her ... and one of Matty for comparison sake.

Finally A Day

that's totally campaign ad free .... thank goodness!
SO glad that the election is over; I am really tired of campaign ads. And other than the fact that Obama/Biden won, I don't know any of the election results. It's been a nice day.

Also thankful that Henry has good brakes - as I was driving home this afternoon a dog ran out in front of me. Fortunately, I was able to stop and didn't hit the poor thing. He/she scurried off to the other side of the road safely (wonder if there was a chicken over there?) And speaking of dogs; saw one of my neighbors at the polling place last night. He is in a wheelchair and has a "helper" dog. Well, as they were leaving, I noticed that the dog had an "I voted" sticker on his head. Only in America can a dog vote for President!

Sis will be bored with the picture I'm posting today, because she already commented on it (it is posted on my Flickr page).

A New President

Well, election day is over - and the announcement that Obama won was made just minutes after the polls closed in California. McCain has already given his speech congratulating Barack and thanking his (McCain's) supporters. Wonder how that makes the people at the polls in Hawaii feel, knowing that their ballots won't affect the Presidential race at all? I know that there are other issues to vote for or against, but still feel that announcements shouldn't be made until ALL the polls have closed.

We're trying to figure when to celebrate Dad's birthday (which is on Thursday). Sis thought J was thinking of having his b-day dinner this weekend, The Boy thought it is supposed to be the following weekend. I checked with Dad - they don't have a set date and would be ok with either day. I'm tentatively scheduled to work the Harvest Fair again this weekend, but have already told Duh that I probably won't make it. There won't be as much to do since another group is handling the saloon (the BI Social Club and the Kiwanis each take a weekend) and they only need a couple of people to handle the "prize wheel", so I'm sure I won't be missed. Especially since they've gotten along without me for quite a few years ....

Anyway, it's after 8:30 and I'm going to wind down and get ready for sleeping. I'm already in my jammies ... and feeling quite comfy.

Laundry Day

Not that I want it to be laundry day but I'm sure my co-workers will appreciate me having clean clothes to wear tomorrow. It is going to rain (if it isn't already) and I have 15 more minutes before the dry cycle is finished. Hopefully the rain will hold off (or stop temporarily) until I get my dry laundry in the apartment. Then I'm going to fix some 'mater soup and crackers, cuddle up under a blanket on my couch and watch tv and read. Doesn't that sound like a nice plan?

Family Feud is doing another "Celebrity Look-Alike" week - and the look-alikes really don't. I don't like it when they have the celebrities on.

Well, I don't really have anything to say at this point, and have other websites to go and visit. Bye for now.

Harvest Fair - Day Two

As predicted, today was a much busier day for me. It didn't have to be, but I was enjoying myself and didn't mind. Worked behind the bar most of the day (I was a "Soiled Dove" today, in red jammies borrowed from Duh). I didn't pour the beer because I've never used a keg tap before and didn't want to sell glasses of foam; however, I got pretty good at pouring wine and taking tickets. They did make a very important discovery today while changing out the kegs - yesterday, the lines were crossed so all the "regular" Bud we sold was actually Bud Light, and vice versa. And NOT ONE person noticed! So it apparently doesn't make a lot of difference one way or the other - beer is beer. Although JT said he only had one beer yesterday because the Bud "didn't taste right".

Today's pictures are of a cowboy on his horse (gotta love a cowboy on a horse!) and our two Bartenders, JT & C. Yes, C's eyes are really that pale. They look blue but are actually green. I have a few more pictures on my Flickr site.

So now I am home (and straight into my nightie for comfort). Yes, even after spending all day in jammies I wanted the comfort of my nightie. Should have taken C up on his "offer" of a footrub; although I'm pretty sure that's not what he had in mind. Besides the fact that it wasn't a serious offer - he's a flirt to the highest degree. And he's married.

I was glad to read on Sis' blog that The Boy went over and helped take down the Haunted House. I kind of felt bad that I hadn't helped with any of the preparations or tear-down. I have to learn to not double-commit my time!

Harvest Fair - Day One

How can I be so tired after not really doing anything all day? Met up with Duh and ST at about 7:40 this morning, had coffee and talked for a while before getting "all dolled up" for the Harvest Fair. They were both in their Saloon Girl outfits, while I was more "Prim and Proper". Our day of "volunteering" consisted mostly of sitting outside the saloon and talking; we also wandered around the "town" a bit. Duh and I did spend a little time bar-tending on a couple of occasions but it was mostly just being there. Oh, and we had some really yummy tacos! I think tomorrow will be a busier day for us. I'm posting a partial group picture; not really a good shot but it has a lot of the people in it.

Let's see, that's Duh's back, Happy and his best friend at the table. In the back, eating, is ST (mentioned elsewhere in this blog as SK), her husband JT is standing next to her, and C is sitting between JT and Happy. I don't know the kids in the wagon, they belong with the photo booth next door.
